Original writing that follows the NCERT syllabus
Each companion chapter follows its NCERT chapter: the same sections in the same order, the same activities and the same learning outcomes, so you always know where you are in your textbook. The words, figures, animations, simulations and questions are our own.
From the textbook we use only pointers: book and chapter titles, chapter and section numbers, page references and exercise numbers (for example “matched to NCERT Exercise 4.1, Q3”). We do not copy NCERT paragraphs, stories, figures, photographs or cover art. Each chapter page links its NCERT chapter on ncert.nic.in, and the textbooks themselves are free at ncert.nic.in.
Drafted with AI
Chapters are drafted by an AI model, Claude (made by Anthropic). It reads the NCERT chapter only as a syllabus reference and first writes a coverage map: every section, concept, activity, box and end-of-chapter exercise, with where each one will be covered. Then it writes the chapter in its own words at the reading level of the class, with stepped figures, simulations, quick checks after each section and a set of practice questions with full answers.
The review
A separate review pass, also run with Claude, treats the draft as unchecked and fixes what it finds. It checks:
- Correctness. Every formula, derivation, worked example, quick-check answer and practice answer is worked out again, with units, signs and directions checked. Simplifications for younger classes must not become false.
- Originality. The text is compared with the NCERT chapter, by machine and by reading it section by section. Passages that follow NCERT sentence by sentence are rewritten, even when no words match.
- Coverage. The coverage map is walked against the NCERT chapter page by page, and anything missing is written in.
- Age-appropriate language. Sentence length stays within a target for the class, new terms are explained at first use and collected in the chapter’s key terms.
- Accessibility. Headings in order, descriptions for every figure and simulation, tables with header cells, maths that screen readers can read, and nothing shown by colour alone.
- Figures and questions. Every figure is rendered in light and dark themes and inspected. Quick-check options and hints are checked so the wrong answers are believable and the explanations address them.
Each review is written up in a review log kept with the chapter’s source.
Automated checks before publishing
- Every chapter is validated against the content format: its structure, the links between sections, figures (cleaned to a safe subset of SVG) and the settings of every simulation.
- Every block is compared with the NCERT chapter text, eight words at a time. A block that shares more than 15% of its eight-word sequences with NCERT fails, and the result is recorded with the chapter.
- Each published page is checked for its text, links and page structure before the site goes live.
Who checks the chapters
The drafting and the review are done with AI, and the other checks are automated. No named teacher or subject expert reviews the chapters today. If that changes, each chapter will say who reviewed it. Until then, use ncert.ai alongside your textbook and teacher, and check anything important with them.
Hindi and Hinglish versions
Some chapters can also be read in Hindi or Hinglish. These are translations of the reviewed English chapter, made with the same AI tools. They keep the same sections, figures and questions, and an automated check confirms that they match the English chapter block for block. When the English chapter changes, the check flags any translation that has fallen behind.
Dates on each chapter
Each chapter shows when it was published and when it was last updated. The “Updated” date moves when the chapter’s text, figures or questions change, or when we change what every chapter page contains (for example, when answers were added to the page). It does not move for design changes.
Corrections
Mistakes can still get through. Every chapter page has a Report a mistake link at the bottom: it opens an email to contact@ncert.ai with the page already filled in. Tell us which part is wrong and why.
We fix confirmed mistakes in the chapter itself, and its “Updated” date changes. Your highlights and notes stay attached to the text. More about the project is on the About page.
