NCERT Biology Class 11, Chapter 19, pp. 239–251 par based original companion text. Yeh NCERT se juda nahi hai aur NCERT ne ise endorse nahi kiya hai.

Ek gate ke peeche se ek kutta tum par jhapatta hai. Second ke ek chhote se hisse mein tumhare pair tumhe jhatke se peeche kheench lete hain: yeh kaam fixed pathways par daudte nerve impulses ne kiya. Lekin poore ek minute baad bhi tumhara dil zor se dhadak raha hota hai, hatheliyan geeli hoti hain aur tum ekdum alert mehsoos karte ho, jabki kutta kab ka shaant ho chuka hai. Yeh der tak rehne wali state tumhare blood mein bahne wale chemicals ka kaam hai.

Neural control, jo tumne pichhle chapter mein padha, fast aur precise hai lekin thodi der ka hota hai, aur yeh sirf un cells tak pahunchta hai jinhe koi nerve fibre sach mein supply karta hai. Kai kaamon ke liye kuch aur chahiye: saalon tak chalne wali growth, din-raat steady rehne wala blood glucose level, hafton mein time hone wala menstrual cycle. In sab ke liye body hormones (हॉर्मोन) use karti hai, jo blood mein travel karke lagbhag har cell tak pahunchne wale messengers hain. Dono systems partners hain: neural system aur endocrine system milkar body ki physiology ko coordinate aur regulate karte hain (Fig. 19.1).

4/4Sirf target cells, jinke paas matching receptor hota hai, respond karte hain.

Fig. 19.1Nerve signal ek jagah jaldi pahunchta hai; hormone har jagah jaata hai, lekin sirf woh cells respond karte hain jinke paas uska receptor hai.

Upar wale band mein ek neuron hai jiska axon ek muscle par khatam hota hai; ek impulse already end tak pahunch chuka hai, jis par fast, brief, ek target likha hai. Neeche wale band mein ek lambi blood vessel ke paas ek gland hai aur uske neeche chaar cells hain; do cells par receptor cups hain aur un par target likha hai, baaki do par non-target likha hai. Doosre step mein chhote hormone squares gland se nikal kar vessel mein jaate hain. Teesre step mein woh poori vessel mein, chaaron cells ke paas se fail jaate hain. Aakhri step mein hormone squares do target cells ke receptors mein baith jaate hain, jo chamak uthte hain, jabki non-target cells waise hi rehte hain.

Body ko coordinate karne ke do tareeke

Neural coordination

  • Signal: nerve fibre ke saath chalne wala electrical impulse
  • Route: point to point, fixed wiring ke saath
  • Speed: milliseconds
  • Effect: thodi der ka; impulses rukte hi ruk jaata hai
  • Reach: sirf woh cells jinhe nerve fibre supply karta hai

Hormonal coordination

  • Signal: ek chemical, yaani hormone
  • Route: blood dwara poori body tak le jaaya jaata hai
  • Speed: seconds se hours tak
  • Effect: minutes se saalon tak reh sakta hai (growth, puberty)
  • Reach: koi bhi cell jiske paas matching receptor ho

19.1 Endocrine glands aur hormones

Tumhari body mein do tarah ki glands hoti hain. Salivary gland ya sweat gland apna product ek tube, yaani duct, mein daalti hai, jo use ek jagah jaise mouth ya skin tak pahunchata hai. Yeh exocrine glands hain. Ek endocrine gland (अंतःस्रावी ग्रंथि) mein koi duct hota hi nahi. Iske cells apna product apne aas-paas ke fluid mein chhodte hain, aur wahan se woh paas ki blood capillaries mein chala jaata hai (Fig. 19.2). Isliye endocrine glands ko ductless glands bhi kehte hain, aur unke secretions hormones hote hain.

3/3Duct product ko ek jagah bhejta hai; blood hormone ko poori body tak le jaata hai.

Fig. 19.2Exocrine gland duct ke through deliver karti hai; endocrine gland blood mein release karti hai.

Left half mein ek exocrine gland hai: ek chhote central space ke chaaron taraf cells ka gol cluster, jisse ek tube, yaani duct, upar ki surface line tak jaati hai. Pehle step mein secretion ki boondein duct mein upar chadhkar surface par gir jaati hain. Right half mein ek endocrine gland hai: waisa hi cells ka cluster lekin bina duct ke, jo ek blood capillary ke upar hai. Doosre step mein left side fade ho jaati hai aur chhote hormone squares gland se capillary mein jaate hain. Teesre step mein dono halves saath dikhte hain, exocrine gland ke neeche ek jagah aur endocrine gland ke neeche poori body likha hai.

Definition
Endocrine gland

Ek ductless gland jo apne secretions, yaani hormones, seedhe blood ya tissue fluid mein chhodti hai.

ExampleGardan mein thyroid gland.

Purani textbooks mein hormone ka idea kaafi narrow tha: ek endocrine gland ka banaya chemical, jo blood mein daala jaata hai aur door ke target organ tak le jaaya jaata hai. Yeh classic glands par fit baithta tha. Lekin biologists ko aise messengers milte rahe jo is rule ko todte the: heart ki wall, gut lining aur kidney se aane wale hormones, jinmein se koi bhi gland nahi hai, aur aise signals jo apni banne ki jagah ke paas wale cells par hi kaam karte hain. Isliye ab definition yeh batati hai ki hormone kya karta hai, na ki woh kahan se aata hai.

Definition
Hormone

Ek non-nutrient chemical, jo trace amounts mein banta hai aur ek cell se doosre cell tak message le jaata hai.

ExamplePancreas ka insulin liver cells ko glucose andar lene ke liye kehta hai.

  • Non-nutrient: hormone information hai, khaana ya fuel nahi. Blood ka glucose ek nutrient hai; insulin, jo use control karta hai, nutrient nahi hai.
  • Cells ke beech messenger: yeh signal ko banane wale cell se respond karne wale cell tak le jaata hai.
  • Trace amounts: bahut chhoti concentrations hi kaafi hain, jaisa Example 19.1 dikhata hai.

Simple animals thode se hormones se kaam chala lete hain; jaise ek insect moulting aur metamorphosis ko control karne ke liye bas kuch hi hormones par depend karta hai. Vertebrates apne kai organ systems ko coordinate karne ke liye hormones ki ek badi range use karte hain. Is chapter ka baaki hissa human endocrine system ke baare mein hai.

Example 19.1

Trace kitna chhota hota hai?

Ek healthy adult ke plasma mein lagbhag 100 nmol/L thyroxine (T4, molar mass 777 g/mol) aur lagbhag 90 mg/dL glucose hota hai. Plasma volume 3.0 L maan lo. Plasma mein dono ka mass nikaalo, aur glucose kitne guna zyada hai.

Pehle khud try karo. Phir solution ek-ek step karke kholo.

Quick check
3 mein se 1
Kaun sa feature endocrine gland ko exocrine gland se alag karta hai?
Answer dekho

Answer (B) Ismein duct nahi hota aur yeh apna product blood mein chhodti hai

Endocrine glands ductless hoti hain; unke hormones blood mein jaate hain. Exocrine glands bhi epithelial hoti hain, isliye A dono ko alag nahi karta.

19.2 Human endocrine system

Tumhare endocrine system ke do parts hain. Ek hai alag-alag, organised glands ka set: pituitary, pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenal, pancreas aur gonads (males mein testes, females mein ovaries). Doosra hai organs ke andar chhupa hormone banane wala tissue, jin organs ka main kaam kuch aur hai, jaise gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidney aur heart. Hypothalamus, jo brain ka ek part hai, is system ke bade hisse ko direct karta hai. Fig. 19.3 dikhata hai ki har gland kahan hai, aur Table 19.1 unke hormones ki list deta hai.

Human body ka ek simple front view jiske dono taraf labels hain. Sir mein hypothalamus hai, uske theek neeche matar jaisi pituitary aur upar-peeche pineal. Gardan mein do thyroid lobes hain, jin par parathyroids mark hain, aur unke neeche chest mein thymus. Abdomen mein patti jaisa pancreas aur kidneys ki dashed outlines ke upar do adrenals hain. Abdomen mein neeche ovaries hain, jin par female likha hai, aur trunk ke neeche testes, jin par male likha hai. Pehla step sab kuch dikhata hai; agle chaar steps baari-baari se sir ki glands, gardan aur chest ki glands, abdomen ki glands aur gonads ko highlight karte hain, aur baaki ko fade kar dete hain.

19.2.1 Hypothalamus

Pichhle chapter mein tum hypothalamus se body temperature, bhookh aur pyaas ke centre ke roop mein mil chuke ho. Yeh forebrain mein diencephalon ke base par hota hai, aur yeh ek hormone factory bhi hai. Iske neurons ke clusters, yaani neurosecretory cells ya nuclei, hormones secrete karte hain. Inmein se lagbhag sabhi ka target ek hi gland hai, pituitary, aur yeh do mein se ek instruction le jaate hain: releasing hormones pituitary ko secrete karne ke liye kehte hain, aur inhibiting hormones use rukne ke liye kehte hain.

Jaise gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) pituitary se woh hormones banwata aur release karwata hai jo testes aur ovaries ko chalate hain. Somatostatin, jo hypothalamus se hi aata hai, ulta kaam karta hai: yeh pituitary ke growth hormone release ko kam kar deta hai.

Yeh hormones theek neeche wali pituitary tak kaise pahunchte hain? Fig. 19.4 mein do routes follow karo. Pehle route mein releasing aur inhibiting hormones hypothalamic neurons ke axons mein neeche behte hain aur unke nerve endings se nikalte hain. Wahan woh ek chhoti portal circulation mein jaate hain, yaani aisi vessels jo blood ko ek capillary bed se seedhe anterior pituitary ke doosre capillary bed tak le jaati hain, bina pehle poori body ka chakkar lagaye, isliye hormones concentrated form mein pahunchte hain. Posterior pituitary ki wiring alag hai: hypothalamic neurons apne axons seedhe uske andar bhejte hain, isliye yeh direct neural control mein hai.

4/4Har lobe apne hormones general circulation mein release karta hai.

Fig. 19.4Hypothalamus se do links: anterior lobe tak blood vessels, posterior lobe tak nerve fibres (schematic).NCERT Fig. 19.2 · p. 241

Ek chauda box jis par hypothalamus likha hai, ek stalk ke upar hai jo neeche do lobes tak jaata hai: left mein bada anterior lobe aur right mein posterior lobe. Doosre step mein releasing aur inhibiting hormones ko dikhane wale dots ek hypothalamic neuron ke axon mein neeche jaate hain, stalk ke ek chhote capillary loop mein, aur laal portal vessels ke saath anterior lobe ke andar ke capillary loop tak. Teesre step mein oxytocin aur ADH ko dikhane wale dots doosre neuron ke lambe nerve fibres mein neeche seedhe posterior lobe tak jaate hain, jahan fibres khatam hote hain. Aakhri step mein arrows dikhate hain ki anterior lobe GH, PRL, TSH, ACTH, LH aur FSH ko blood mein release karta hai, aur posterior lobe oxytocin aur ADH ko.

19.2.2 Pituitary gland

Pituitary (पीयूष ग्रंथि) lagbhag ek matar ke size ki hoti hai. Yeh ek stalk se hypothalamus se latki rehti hai aur skull ke floor ki ek bony jagah mein tiki hoti hai jise sella turcica kehte hain, jo Latin mein 'Turkish saddle' hai aur iske shape ko describe karta hai. Is gland ke do parts hain jo bilkul alag tarah se kaam karte hain:

  • adenohypophysis, yaani glandular part, jo pars distalis (anterior pituitary) aur ek patli pars intermedia se bana hai, jo insaanon mein lagbhag pars distalis mein mil chuki hai;
  • neurohypophysis, ya pars nervosa (posterior pituitary), jo asal mein hypothalamus ka hi ek outgrowth hai aur apna koi hormone nahi banata.

Pars distalis chhe hormones secrete karta hai, jinhe aam taur par unke abbreviations se jaana jaata hai: TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), ACTH (adrenocorticotrophic hormone), GH (growth hormone), PRL (prolactin), FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) aur LH (luteinizing hormone). Pars intermedia sirf ek hormone secrete karta hai, MSH (melanocyte stimulating hormone). Neurohypophysis oxytocin aur vasopressin ko store aur release karta hai, jo hypothalamic neurons mein synthesise hote hain aur unke axons se neeche bheje jaate hain. Table 19.2 aur Fig. 19.5 har hormone ko uske target ke saath jodte hain.

1/4Chhe hormones, chhe tarah ke targets.

Fig. 19.5Anterior pituitary hormones ke targets (MSH pars intermedia se aata hai).

Centre mein ek box hai jis par pituitary likha hai, aur chhe labelled arrows hain. TSH thyroid ki taraf point karta hai, ACTH adrenal cortex ki taraf, LH aur FSH testis aur ovary ki taraf, GH bone aur muscle ki taraf, MSH melanocytes ki taraf aur PRL mammary glands ki taraf. Pehla step chhaon dikhata hai. Doosra step sirf TSH aur ACTH ko highlight karta hai, jo doosri endocrine glands ko control karte hain. Teesra step gonads par kaam karne wale LH aur FSH ko highlight karta hai. Chautha step GH, MSH aur PRL ko highlight karta hai, jo aise tissues par kaam karte hain jo endocrine glands nahi hain.

Growth hormone dikhata hai ki imbalance ki timing uske effect ko kaise shape karti hai. Puberty se pehle long bones abhi bhi lambi ho sakti hain; adult mein nahi ho sakti, lekin bone aur soft tissue abhi bhi mote ho sakte hain.

Compare

Growth hormone: age matter karti hai

Bachpan mein bahut zyada GH

  • Gigantism
  • poori body ki abnormal growth, jo bahut lambi ho jaati hai

Bachpan mein bahut kam GH

  • Pituitary dwarfism
  • ruki hui growth

Adult mein bahut zyada GH

  • Acromegaly, aksar middle age mein
  • chehra, haath aur pair bade ho jaate hain aur chehra bigad jaata hai
  • dheere-dheere aata hai aur saalon tak pata nahi chal sakta
  • ilaaj na ho to serious complications aur jaldi maut ho sakti hai

Prolactin mammary glands ko develop karta hai aur unmein milk production chalata hai. TSH aur ACTH trophic hormones hain, jo har ek kisi doosri endocrine gland ko on karte hain: TSH thyroid par kaam karta hai, taaki woh apne hormones banaye aur release kare, aur ACTH adrenal cortex par, taaki woh glucocorticoids naam ke steroids banaye aur release kare. Kyunki inka target gonads hain, LH aur FSH ko saath mein gonadotrophins ke group mein rakha jaata hai.

Male mein LH testes ke liye androgens banane ka signal hai, jabki sperm production (spermatogenesis) ke liye FSH ko un androgens ke saath milkar kaam karna padta hai. Female mein FSH ovarian follicles ki growth aur development chalata hai. Phir LH ek poori tarah mature (Graafian) follicle se uska ovum release karwata hai, jo ovulation hai, aur uske baad us corpus luteum ko banaye rakhta hai jismein khaali follicle badal jaata hai.

Skin ka colour MSH ka kaam hai, jo melanocytes, yaani skin ke melanin wale cells, par kaam karta hai. Oxytocin smooth muscle ke liye contract hone ka signal hai, jo sabse zyada childbirth ke time uterus ke strong contractions mein aur baby ke feed karte waqt mammary glands se milk ke ejection mein dikhta hai. Vasopressin mainly kidney par kaam karta hai: distal tubules mein yeh paani aur electrolytes ka reabsorption badhata hai, isliye urine ke roop mein kam paani nikalta hai. Urine ke zyada flow ko diuresis kehte hain, isliye vasopressin ko antidiuretic hormone (ADH) bhi kehte hain.

Jab body kaafi ADH nahi bana ya release kar paati, to insaan chahe kitna bhi kam piye, urine patla aur zyada hi rehta hai, aur lagaatar pyaas aur dehydration hone lagte hain. Is condition ko diabetes insipidus kehte hain.

Example 19.2

Do patients, ek symptom

Do adults clinic aate hain kyunki unhe normal se bahut zyada urine aata hai. Patient P ke urine mein glucose hai, aur P ka fasting blood glucose 190 mg/dL hai. Patient Q ka urine bahut patla hai aur usmein glucose nahi hai, aur Q ka fasting blood glucose 85 mg/dL hai. Dono mein shayad kaun sa hormone gadbad hai, aur dono conditions ke naam kya hain?

Quick check
4 mein se 1
Pituitary se release hone wala kaun sa hormone pituitary mein bilkul nahi banta?
Answer dekho

Answer (C) Vasopressin

Vasopressin (aur oxytocin) hypothalamic neurons mein bante hain aur neurohypophysis inhe sirf store aur release karta hai. Prolactin aur ACTH pars distalis se aate hain, MSH pars intermedia se.

19.2.3 Pineal gland

Pineal gland forebrain ki dorsal side par ek chhoti si body hai, aur iska hormone melatonin 24-hour, yaani diurnal, cycle ke liye body ki ghadi ki tarah kaam karta hai. Yeh raat ko tumhe neend laata hai aur body temperature ko roz ke schedule par girne aur badhne mein madad karta hai. Iska asar aur aage tak jaata hai: metabolism, skin pigmentation, menstrual cycle aur body ki immune defences sab is par respond karte hain.

Melatonin ka output roshni aur andhere ke hisaab se chalta hai (Fig. 19.6). Din bhar yeh kam rehta hai; shaam dhalne ke baad badhta hai, raat ke pichhle pehar mein peak par pahunchta hai aur subah ki taraf phir girta hai.

3/3Melatonin aadhi raat ke aas-paas, neend ke dauraan, peak par hota hai aur subah tak gir jaata hai.

Fig. 19.6Melatonin andhere mein badhta hai aur roshni mein girta hai, jisse neend aur doosre daily rhythms ki timing tay hoti hai (shape simplified).

Ek graph 6 am se noon, 6 pm aur midnight hote hue agle din 6 am tak chalta hai, ek band ke neeche jo din mein light aur raat mein dark hai. Pehle step mein melatonin curve sirf shaam ki shuruaat tak bana hai: yeh din bhar flat aur neeche rehta hai, aur uske upar jaage likha hai. Doosre step mein shaam dhalne ke baad curve upar chadhna shuru karta hai. Teesre step mein poora curve aadhi raat ke aas-paas, midnight aur subah ke beech, ek peak aur subah ki taraf girawat dikhata hai, aur raat wale hisse ke neeche neend likha hai.

19.2.4 Thyroid gland

Adam's apple ke theek neeche apni gardan chhoo kar nigal kar dekho: thyroid wahin trachea ke saamne hota hai. Iske do lobes hain, trachea ke dono taraf ek-ek, jo saamne se connective tissue ki ek patli band se jude hain jise isthmus kehte hain (Fig. 19.7). Andar se yeh gland kai khokhle, gend jaise follicles se bana hai jo stromal (supporting) tissue mein tike hote hain. Har follicle ki wall ek central cavity ke chaaron taraf follicular cells ka ring hai, aur cavity protein-rich colloid se bhari hoti hai.

Follicular cells do hormones banate hain: tetraiodothyronine, jise thyroxine (T4) ke naam se zyada jaana jaata hai, aur triiodothyronine (T3). Prefixes iodine atoms ginte hain, ek molecule mein chaar aur doosre mein teen. Isi wajah se thyroid apna normal hormone synthesis tab tak nahi chala sakta jab tak diet se kaafi iodine na mile.

1/3Trachea ke dono taraf do lobes, jo isthmus se jude hain.

Fig. 19.7Saamne se thyroid, uska ek follicle, aur uski peeth par parathyroids.NCERT Fig. 19.3 · p. 242

Pehle step mein larynx aur trachea ka front view hai, jiske dono taraf do thyroid lobes hain, jo trachea ke saamne isthmus se jude hain; labels larynx, ek lobe, isthmus aur trachea ke naam batate hain. Doosre step mein gland ke paas ek magnified circle aata hai jo ek follicle dikhata hai: follicular cells ka ring, har cell mein ek nucleus, aur beech mein colloid ki cavity, upar T3 aur T4 likha hai. Teesre step mein gland ka back view aata hai: isthmus trachea ke peeche chhup jaata hai aur chaar chhoti parathyroid glands, har lobe par do, label hoti hain.

Thyroid hormones lagbhag har tissue par kaam karte hain, body ki chemistry ke accelerator ki tarah. Yeh basal metabolic rate, yaani aaram ki halat mein use hone wali energy, set karte hain, aur iske saath yeh bhi ki carbohydrates, proteins aur fats kitni tezi se process hote hain. Nervous system ko develop aur mature hone ke liye inki zaroorat hoti hai; yeh paani aur electrolytes ke balance par bhi asar daalte hain aur red blood cells banne mein madad karte hain. Iske alawa thyroid ek protein hormone, thyrocalcitonin (TCT), bhi secrete karta hai jo blood calcium ko control mein rakhne mein madad karta hai (Section 19.2.5).

Compare

Jab thyroid gadbad karta hai

Hypothyroidism (bahut kam hormone)

  • Aam kaaran: diet mein bahut kam iodine, jisse gland sooj kar goitre (घेंघा) bhi ban jaata hai
  • Pregnancy ke dauraan: baby ka development aur maturation bigad jaata hai, jisse ruki hui growth (cretinism), intellectual disability (purani books mein mental retardation kaha gaya), low IQ, abnormal skin aur deaf-mutism hota hai
  • Adult women mein: irregular menstrual cycles

Hyperthyroidism (bahut zyada hormone)

  • Kaaranon mein thyroid ka cancer aur usmein nodules (gaanthein) shaamil hain, jo hormone output ko abnormal roop se high kar dete hain
  • Exophthalmic goitre, jise Graves' disease bhi kehte hain: bada thyroid, bahar nikli aankhein, badha hua basal metabolic rate aur weight loss
  • Zyada hormone poori body ki physiology ko bigaad deta hai

19.2.5 Parathyroid glands

Thyroid ko ghuma kar dekho to uski peeth par chaar chhoti parathyroid glands dikhti hain, har lobe par do (Fig. 19.7 ka aakhri step). Inka peptide hormone parathyroid hormone (PTH) hai. Inhe koi doosri gland on nahi karti: parathyroid cells khud paas se behte blood mein calcium ions (CaX2+) ko sense karke apna output adjust karte hain. PTH teen jagah kaam karke blood calcium badhata hai:

  • Bone: yeh bone resorption ko stimulate karta hai, yaani bone mineral ka ghulna (demineralisation), jisse CaX2+ blood mein aata hai.
  • Kidney: yeh renal tubules se zyada CaX2+ reabsorb karwata hai, isliye urine mein kam nikalta hai.
  • Intestine: yeh digest hue khaane se CaX2+ ka absorption badhata hai.

Teenon actions blood calcium ko upar le jaate hain, isliye PTH ek hypercalcemic hormone hai. Thyrocalcitonin ulti disha mein kaam karke ise kam karta hai. Steering wheel par do haathon ki tarah, PTH aur TCT blood calcium ko ek narrow range mein rakhte hain (Fig. 19.8), jo zaroori hai kyunki nerves, muscles (heart bhi) aur blood clotting sab calcium par depend karte hain.

2/4Kam calcium: parathyroids PTH release karti hain, jo bone, kidney aur intestine par kaam karta hai.

Fig. 19.8PTH aur thyrocalcitonin blood calcium ko ulti dishaon mein le jaate hain.

Beech mein ek vertical gauge blood calcium level dikhata hai, jismein ek shaded normal band aur ek marker hai. Left mein ek thyroid box TCT label wala arrow gauge ki taraf bhejta hai; right mein ek parathyroids box PTH ko ek line par neeche bhejta hai jo bone, kidney aur intestine ke boxes mein bant jaati hai. Pehle step mein marker normal band mein hai aur dono hormone pathways fade hain. Doosre step mein marker low tak gir jaata hai aur PTH pathway chamak uthta hai. Teesre step mein bone, kidney aur intestine se dashed green arrows wapas gauge tak jaate hain aur marker normal par laut aata hai. Chauthe step mein marker high hai aur thyroid aur TCT chamakte hain jabki PTH fade ho jaata hai.

Example 19.3

Surgery ke dauraan ek galti

Ek beemar thyroid ko nikalne ke operation mein galti se chaaron parathyroid glands bhi nikal jaati hain. Patient ko thyroid hormone ki tablets di jaati hain. Predict karo ki agle kuch dinon mein blood calcium level ka kya hoga, aur samjhao ki TCT ka bhi chale jaana cheezon ko balance kyun nahi karta.

Pehle khud try karo. Phir solution ek-ek step karke kholo.

Ek pahadi district mein, jahan ki mitti mein iodine kam hai, kai adults ki gardan sooji hui hai. Iska sabse sambhavit explanation kya hai?
Answer dekho

Answer (A) Iodine ki kami jisse hypothyroidism hota hai

Kaafi iodine ke bina thyroid kaafi hormone nahi bana paata (hypothyroidism) aur bada hokar goitre ban jaata hai. Yahan bahut zyada iodine kaaran nahi hai.

19.2.6 Thymus

Tumhari chhati ki haddi (sternum) ke peeche, dono lungs ke beech aorta ki ventral side par, ek naram, lobed gland hoti hai: thymus. Ise immune system ka training school samjho. Iske release kiye peptide hormones, thymosins, young T-lymphocytes ko guide karte hain jab woh cell-mediated immunity ke zimmedaar cells mein differentiate hote hain, aur yeh antibody production bhi badhate hain, jo humoral immunity ka base hai.

Yeh school umar ke saath chhota hota jaata hai. Buzurg logon mein thymus kaafi had tak degenerate ho chuka hota hai aur bahut kam thymosin banata hai, isliye unki immune defences kamzor hoti hain; yeh ek wajah hai ki jo infection ek teenager aasaani se jhel leta hai woh dada-dadi ke liye khatarnaak ho sakta hai. T-cells aur antibodies se tum Class 12 mein human health and disease wale chapter mein phir miloge.

19.2.7 Adrenal glands

Tumhare paas do adrenal glands (अधिवृक्क ग्रंथि) hain, har ek kidney ke upar topi ki tarah baithi hoti hai. Ek ko kaat kar dekho to do alag tissues dikhte hain: beech mein adrenal medulla jo bahar ke adrenal cortex mein lipta hota hai (Fig. 19.9). Dono bilkul alag hormones banate hain, isliye inhe ek package mein do glands samajhna aasaan hai.

3/4Zona glomerulosa (bahar), zona fasciculata (beech mein) aur zona reticularis (andar).

Fig. 19.9Adrenal gland: beech ke medulla ke chaaron taraf cortex ke teen zones (proportions simplified).NCERT Fig. 19.4 · p. 244

Left mein ek kidney ke upar adrenal gland topi ki tarah hai, dono par label hai. Doosre step mein ek dashed cut line topi ko kaatti hai aur ek bada oval section dikhta hai, jiske bahar cortex aur beech mein medulla likha hai. Teesre step mein cortex teen nested bands ke roop mein dikhta hai, jin par bahar se andar glomerulosa, fasciculata aur reticularis likha hai, har ek alag shade mein. Chauthe step mein cortex fade ho jaata hai, medulla ki outline bold ho jaati hai aur uske paas adrenaline aur noradrenaline words aate hain.

Medulla: emergency hormones. Kisi bhi tarah ke stress ya emergency mein medulla tezi se adrenaline (epinephrine) aur noradrenaline (norepinephrine) chhodta hai, jinhe catecholamines ke group mein rakha jaata hai. Kyunki yeh body ko ladne ya bhaagne ke liye taiyaar karte hain, inhe emergency hormones, ya 'fight or flight' hormones kehte hain. Gate wale kutte ko yaad karo:

  • tumhara dil tez dhadakta hai aur har beat zyada zordaar hoti hai, aur saans tez ho jaati hai;
  • fuel mobilise hota hai: glycogen toot-ta hai isliye blood glucose badhta hai, aur lipids aur proteins bhi toot-te hain;
  • tum alert mehsoos karte ho, pupils chaude ho jaate hain (pupillary dilation), paseena aata hai, aur skin ke baal khade ho jaate hain (piloerection).

Cortex: teen zones, kai corticoids. Bahar se andar, cortex ki layers hain zona glomerulosa, zona fasciculata aur zona reticularis. Yeh milkar kai steroid hormones, yaani corticoids, release karte hain, jo do main families ke hain. Glucocorticoids, jinmein insaanon mein sabse aage cortisol hai, carbohydrate metabolism sambhalte hain. Mineralocorticoids, jinmein sabse aage aldosterone hai, body ke paani aur electrolytes ko manage karte hain.

Doctors severe allergies aur inflammation ke liye synthetic glucocorticoids dete hain, aur iski wajah woh hai jo cortisol naturally karta hai: yeh inflammation ko kam karta hai aur immune response ko dabata hai. Iske metabolic effects kaafi broad hain. Yeh gluconeogenesis (non-carbohydrate sources se naya glucose), lipolysis (fat ka tootna) aur proteolysis (protein ka tootna) chalata hai, aur saath hi cells dwara amino acids ke uptake aur use ko rokta hai. Yeh cardiovascular system aur kidney function ko banaye rakhne mein bhi madad karta hai, aur red blood cell production ko stimulate karta hai.

Aldosterone mainly renal tubules par kaam karta hai. Yeh NaX+ aur paani ka reabsorption aur KX+ aur phosphate ions ka excretion badhata hai, aur is tarah blood pressure, body fluids ka volume, unka osmotic pressure aur electrolyte balance steady rakhta hai.

Cortex thodi matra mein androgenic steroids bhi release karta hai, jo puberty ke dauraan armpits, pubic region aur chehre par baal ugne mein madad karte hain. Agar cortex bahut kam hormone banata hai, to carbohydrate metabolism bigad jaata hai aur insaan ko tez kamzori aur thakaan hoti hai: yeh Addison's disease hai.

Adrenal medulla ka adrenaline seconds mein fight-or-flight signs paida karta hai. Cortisol ek cortex hormone hai jiske effects dheere-dheere badhte hain.

19.2.8 Pancreas

Pancreas (अग्न्याशय) ek composite gland hai, yaani ek saath exocrine bhi aur endocrine bhi. Iska zyada hissa pancreatic juice banata hai jo ek duct ke through duodenum mein jaata hai. Iske andar islands ki tarah bikhre hue lagbhag 1 se 2 million endocrine cells ke chhote clusters hain, islets of Langerhans, phir bhi yeh sab milkar gland ke tissue ka sirf 1–2 % hain. Islet cells ke do main types hain: α-cells, jo glucagon secrete karte hain, aur β-cells, jo insulin secrete karte hain.

Do meals ke beech glucagon hi tumhari blood sugar ko girne se rokta hai. Yeh peptide hormone mainly liver cells (hepatocytes) par kaam karta hai aur unse do tareekon se glucose release karwata hai: stored glycogen ko tod kar (glycogenolysis) aur non-carbohydrate sources se naya glucose bana kar (gluconeogenesis). Saath hi yeh body cells se kam glucose lene aur use karne ko kehta hai. Yeh har effect blood sugar ko upar, hyperglycemia ki taraf le jaata hai, isi liye glucagon ko hyperglycemic hormone kehte hain.

Khaane ke baad yeh kaam insulin ke paas chala jaata hai, jo bhi ek peptide hai. Iske main targets hepatocytes aur adipocytes (fat cells) hain, jinse yeh glucose tezi se andar lene aur use karne ko kehta hai; yeh unse extra glucose ko glycogen ke roop mein store bhi karwata hai (glycogenesis). Glucose blood se bahar nikalta hai aur level girta hai, aur agar yeh normal se neeche chala jaaye to is state ko hypoglycemia kehte hain. Glucagon ise badhata hai aur insulin ghatata hai, isliye blood glucose steady rehta hai: yeh glucose homeostasis hai ((19.1), Fig. 19.10).

Beech mein ek islet hai jiske centre mein gol beta-cells aur kinaare par square alpha-cells hain. Neeche liver aur fat cells ke boxes hain. Pehle step mein pointer normal band mein hai. Doosre step mein, khaane ke baad, pointer high par jaata hai, beta-cells ki outline bold hoti hai aur insulin label wale arrows fat cells aur liver tak jaate hain, jo glucose andar lete hain. Teesre step mein pointer wapas normal par hai aur liver box par glycogen store likha hai. Chauthe step mein, meals ke beech, pointer low par jaata hai, alpha-cells ki outline aati hai aur glucagon label wala arrow liver tak jaata hai, jo glucose chhodta hai.

InteractiveBlood glucose lab

Do buttons pancreas chunte hain: healthy, ya aisa jo insulin nahi banata. Teen buttons 24-hour din mein aage badhate hain: khaana khao, teen ghante wait karo, ya phir se shuru karo. Ek graph time ke against mg/dL mein blood glucose plot karta hai, jismein 70 se 140 tak ek shaded usual range hai aur 180 par ek dashed line hai jiske upar kidney glucose ko urine mein jaane deti hai. Readouts time, glucose level, insulin, glucagon aur liver glycogen ke bars, aur urine mein glucose hai ya nahi, yeh dikhate hain. Healthy pancreas ke saath khaana glucose ko thoda hi badhata hai, phir insulin use wapas le aata hai, aur wait karne par glucagon glycogen se glucose release karwata hai. Insulin ke bina khaane ke baad glucose kidney line se kaafi upar chala jaata hai aur bina khaane ke bhi high rehta hai, aur status line urine mein glucose aur ketone bodies ko samjhati hai. Yeh ek simplified teaching model hai.

Fig. 19.11Healthy pancreas chuno ya aisa jo insulin nahi banata, phir khaana khao aur wait karo. Har press par ghadi teen ghante aage badhti hai.

Agar insulin nahi hai, ya body ke cells us par respond karna band kar dete hain, to blood glucose din-ba-din high rehta hai. Yeh lambi chalne wali hyperglycemia complex disorder diabetes mellitus (मधुमेह) hai.2023 mein publish hui ek ICMR study ke anusaar India mein lagbhag 101 million log diabetes ke saath jee rahe hain. Kidneys saara extra glucose wapas nahi le paati, isliye kuch urine mein nikal jaata hai; aur jo cells glucose ko theek se use nahi kar paate woh energy ke liye fat ki taraf mudte hain, jisse nuksaandeh ketone bodies bante hain. Insulin therapy is disease ko achhe se control karti hai, aur jin logon ka pancreas insulin nahi banata woh is par depend karte hain.

Answer (C) Glycogenolysis

Glucagon glycogen ko tod kar glucose banata hai (glycogenolysis) aur gluconeogenesis bhi chalata hai. Glycogenesis insulin ka action hai.

19.2.9 Testis

Testes (वृषण) abdomen ke bahar scrotal sac mein latke rehte hain, aur double role nibhaate hain: primary male sex organs ke roop mein yeh sperms banate hain, aur endocrine glands ke roop mein hormones. Har testis ka zyada hissa coiled seminiferous tubules hai, jahan sperms bante hain. Hormones banane wale Leydig cells (interstitial cells) hain, jo tubules ke beech ki jagah bharne wale stromal, ya interstitial, tissue mein bikhre hote hain. Yeh androgens secrete karte hain, jinmein testosterone sabse mukhya hai (Fig. 19.12).

  • Sperm production: androgens spermatogenesis ke liye ek bada stimulus hain.
  • Puberty: yeh muscle banate hain aur chehre aur axillary (armpit) ke baal, bhaari (low-pitched) awaaz aur aggressiveness laate hain.
  • Accessory organs: epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate gland aur urethra ko develop, mature aur kaam karne ke liye androgens chahiye.
  • Metabolism: protein aur carbohydrate metabolism par inke anabolic (building-up) effects hote hain aur yeh red blood cells banne ko stimulate karte hain.
  • Behaviour: central nervous system par kaam karke yeh male sexual behaviour (libido) ko influence karte hain.

4/4Phata hua follicle corpus luteum ban jaata hai, jo mainly progesterone secrete karta hai.

Fig. 19.12Gonads ke hormone banane wale cells: testis mein Leydig cells, ovary mein follicle aur corpus luteum (schematic).

Left panel, testis, mein cross-section mein chaar gol seminiferous tubules hain aur unke beech ki jagah mein Leydig cells ke chhote clusters hain, jin par Leydig cells, make androgens likha hai. Right panel, ovary, pehle step mein fade hai aur ek chhota follicle dikhata hai. Doosre step mein follicle ek central ovum ke chaaron taraf bada ho gaya hai, jis par badhta follicle, makes estrogen likha hai. Teesre step mein follicle ki wall phat jaati hai aur ovum ovary se bahar nikalta hai, jis par ovulation, ovum nikla likha hai. Chauthe step mein khaali follicle ek solid peeli body ban gaya hai jis par corpus luteum, makes progesterone likha hai.

19.2.10 Ovary

Female abdomen ke andar do ovaries (अंडाशय) ke bhi do roles hain. Har menstrual cycle mein ek ovum release hota hai, aur ovaries do groups ke steroid hormones secrete karti hain, estrogen aur progesterone. Kaun sa hormone zyada hoga, yeh is par depend karta hai ki supporting stroma mein bane ovarian follicles kya kar rahe hain (Fig. 19.12 ke aakhri teen steps). Badhta hua follicle mainly estrogen secrete karta hai. Ovum release karne ke baad phata hua follicle corpus luteum ban jaata hai, jiska main product progesterone hai.

Puberty par estrogens female secondary sex characters laate hain, jaise patli (high-pitched) awaaz, aur mammary glands ko develop karte hain. Poori reproductive life mein yeh female secondary sex organs ki growth aur activity ko stimulate karte hain, badhte follicles ko develop hone mein madad karte hain aur female sexual behaviour ko regulate karte hain. Progesterone ka main kaam pregnancy ko support karna hai; mammary glands mein yeh alveoli, yaani milk store karne wale thaili jaise structures, banata hai aur milk secretion ko stimulate karta hai. Class 12 dikhata hai ki yeh hormones LH aur FSH ke saath milkar menstrual cycle kaise chalate hain.

Testis ke kaun se cells androgens secrete karte hain?
Answer dekho

Answer (A) Tubules ke beech Leydig cells

Intertubular spaces mein Leydig (interstitial) cells androgens secrete karte hain. Tubules ke andar hormones nahi, sperms bante hain.

19.3 Heart, kidney aur gastrointestinal tract ke hormones

Har hormone kisi gland se nahi aata. Kai organs, jinka main kaam kuch aur hai, unmein bhi hormone secrete karne wale cells hote hain (Fig. 19.13, Table 19.6).

Heart bhi ek endocrine organ hai. Jab bhi blood pressure badhta hai, iski atrial walls ek peptide release karti hain, atrial natriuretic factor (ANF). ANF blood vessels ko chauda (dilate) karta hai, aur chaudi vessels ka matlab kam pressure, isliye ANF blood pressure par ek built-in brake ki tarah kaam karta hai.Natriuretic ka matlab hai 'urine mein sodium ke nikalne ko badhana', jo kidney par ANF ka ek aur effect hai.

Kidney mein juxtaglomerular cells erythropoietin release karte hain, ek peptide hormone jo bone marrow ko erythropoiesis, yaani red blood cells banana, badhane ke liye kehta hai. Jin logon ki kidneys fail ho jaati hain woh ise bahut kam banate hain aur aksar anaemic ho jaate hain; unka ilaaj recombinant DNA technology se bane erythropoietin se kiya ja sakta hai.

Gastrointestinal tract mein bikhre endocrine cells chaar major peptide hormones release karte hain, har ek digestion ke ek stage se juda hai. Gastrin gastric glands se hydrochloric acid aur pepsinogen nikalwata hai. Secretin ka target exocrine pancreas hai, jo jawab mein paani aur bicarbonate ions ka flow chhodta hai. Cholecystokinin (CCK) ke do targets hain: pancreas, jo apne enzymes release karta hai, aur gall bladder, jo bile juice release karta hai. Gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP) gastric secretion aur stomach ki churning movements (motility) dono ko rokta hai.

1/4ANF blood vessels ko chauda karta hai aur blood pressure kam karta hai.

Fig. 19.13Aise organs ke banaye hormones jo endocrine glands nahi hain.

Left mein heart, kidney, stomach aur C-shaped duodenum ki chhoti drawings hain, har ek ke naam ke saath; ek pointer us organ ko mark karta hai jiske baare mein right wala panel bata raha hai. Pehle step mein heart highlight hai aur panel mein likha hai ANF, atrial wall se: jab blood pressure badhta hai, vessels chaudi hoti hain aur pressure girta hai, saath mein ek vessel ki drawing jiski walls bahar ki taraf jaati hain. Doosre step mein kidney highlight hai: JG cells ka erythropoietin bone marrow se zyada red blood cells banwata hai, jo laal discs ke roop mein dikhte hain. Teesre step mein stomach: gastrin gastric glands se HCl aur pepsinogen release karwata hai. Chauthe step mein duodenum: secretin pancreas par kaam karta hai, CCK pancreas aur gall bladder par, aur GIP stomach ko dheema karta hai.

Inke alawa kai non-endocrine tissues growth factors release karte hain. Tissues ko normal growth ke liye aur chot ke baad khud ko repair ya regenerate karne ke liye in signals ki zaroorat hoti hai.

Answer (D) Atrial natriuretic factor

Atrial wall ka ANF blood vessels ko dilate karke blood pressure kam karta hai. Aldosterone namak aur paani rok kar ise badhata hai.

19.4 Hormone action ka mechanism

Glucagon body ke har cell tak pahunchta hai, phir bhi liver cells zor se respond karte hain aur skin cells lagbhag bilkul nahi. Yeh fark hormone receptors (ग्राही) ki wajah se hai, jo aise proteins hain jo ek khaas hormone ko pehchan kar usse bind karte hain aur sirf uske target tissues mein hote hain. Har receptor sirf apne hormone se bind karta hai, isliye receptors specific hote hain. Binding se ek hormone–receptor complex banta hai, aur yeh complex biochemical changes shuru karta hai jo target tissue ke metabolism ko, aur uske through uske physiological functions ko, badal dete hain.

Receptors do mein se ek jagah hote hain. Membrane-bound receptors target cell ki cell membrane mein hote hain. Intracellular receptors cell ke andar hote hain, zyada tar nucleus mein, jahan inhe nuclear receptors kehte hain. Hormone kaun sa type use karega, yeh kaafi had tak uske chemical nature par depend karta hai (Table 19.7).

Table 19.7Chemical nature ke hisaab se hormones ke groups
Chemical groupExamplesAam receptor
Peptides, polypeptides, proteinsinsulin, glucagon, PTH, ADH, baaki pituitary aur hypothalamic hormonesmembrane-bound
Steroidscortisol, aldosterone, testosterone, estradiol, progesteroneintracellular
Iodothyroninesthyroid hormones T3 aur T4intracellular
Amino-acid derivativesadrenaline (epinephrine), noradrenalinemembrane-bound

Peptide hormones aur adrenaline membrane cross nahi kar sakte, isliye yeh membrane-bound receptors se bind karke surface par hi apna message dete hain. Binding receptor ko badal deti hai, jo phir cell ke andar ek second messenger ka production shuru karta hai: jaise cyclic AMP (cAMP), inositol trisphosphate (IP3) ya calcium ions (CaX2+). Agar hormone first messenger hai, jo signal ko cell surface tak pahunchata hai, to second messenger use andar aage le jaata hai, enzymes ko on ya off karke cellular metabolism ko regulate karta hai. Jab glucagon liver cell se bind karta hai, to cAMP badhta hai aur glycogen todne wale enzymes activate ho jaate hain (Fig. 19.14).

Steroids aur iodothyronines doosra route lete hain. Steroids lipid-soluble hote hain aur seedhe membrane ke paar chale jaate hain, aur yeh hormones apne receptors cell ke andar, zyada tar nucleus mein, paate hain. Wahan hormone–receptor complex khud genome par kaam karta hai, khaas genes ko on ya off karke (gene expression) ya chromosome function par kisi aur tarah asar daal kar, jisse cell proteins ka ek alag set banana shuru kar deta hai. Samay ke saath jud kar yeh biochemical changes physiological aur developmental effects ke roop mein dikhte hain.

5/5Hormone–receptor complex genes par kaam karta hai; mRNA banta hai aur phir naye proteins bante hain.

Fig. 19.14Hormones ke kaam karne ke do tareeke: membrane receptor aur second messenger ke through (glucagon), ya intracellular receptor ke through jo gene expression badalta hai (estradiol).NCERT Fig. 19.5 · p. 248

Upar se ek cell membrane guzarti hai; uske upar glucagon hai, ek peptide jo blue square ke roop mein bana hai, aur estradiol, ek steroid jo orange hexagon ke roop mein bana hai. Cell ke andar left mein ek membrane receptor hai aur right mein ek nucleus jismein receptor aur DNA ka double strand hai. Doosre step mein glucagon bina andar aaye membrane receptor mein baith jaata hai. Teesre step mein cell ke andar green cAMP dots aate hain, jin par second messenger likha hai, aur saath mein text enzymes on hue: glycogen toot-ta hai. Chauthe step mein left side fade ho jaati hai aur estradiol seedhe membrane ke paar nucleus mein jaakar apne receptor se bind karta hai. Paanchve step mein DNA par ek gene highlight hota hai, ek mRNA strand nucleus se bahar nikalta hai aur cytoplasm mein ek nayi protein chain dikhti hai.

Left mein koi item tap karo, phir right mein uska match.

    Answer dekho
    Answer
    • diabetes mellitus : insulin
    • goitre : thyroid hormones (iodine ki kami)
    • cretinism : pregnancy ke dauraan thyroid hormones
    • diabetes insipidus : ADH
    • Addison's disease : adrenal cortex hormones
Insulin ki kami se diabetes mellitus hota hai aur ADH ki kami se diabetes insipidus. Iodine ki kami se thyroid hormone bahut kam hone par goitre hota hai, aur pregnancy mein hypothyroidism se baby mein cretinism hota hai. Cortex hormone bahut kam hone se Addison's disease hota hai.
  9. Long answerHardNCERT Exercises Q8

FSH anterior pituitary ka ek protein hormone hai. Step by step samjhao ki yeh ovarian follicles ki growth kaise karwata hai, follicle cell tak iske pahunchne se shuru karke.

    Solution dikhao
    1. FSH blood mein travel karke ovary tak pahunchta hai, jahan follicle cells ki cell membrane mein FSH receptors hote hain.
    2. Ek bada protein hone ki wajah se FSH cell ke andar nahi jaata; yeh apne specific membrane-bound receptor se bind karta hai aur hormone–receptor complex banata hai.
    3. Yeh complex cell ke andar ek second messenger ka production shuru karta hai, jaise cyclic AMP (ya CaX2+ mein badhat).
    4. Second messenger khaas enzymes ko on ya off karta hai, jisse cell ke andar biochemical responses hote hain.
    5. Yeh biochemical changes jud kar physiological response banate hain: ovarian follicle ki growth aur development.

  11. Quick answerEasy

Adrenal cortex kaun sa hormone pair secrete karta hai?

    Answer dekho

    Answer (C) Cortisol aur aldosterone

Cortisol aur aldosterone corticoids hain. Adrenaline aur noradrenaline medulla se aate hain.
  12. Quick answerMedium

Assertion (A): Saari parathyroid glands nikaal dene se blood calcium kam ho jaata hai. Reason (R): Thyrocalcitonin ek hypercalcemic hormone hai.

    Answer dekho

Answer (C) A true hai lekin R false hai

A true hai kyunki hypercalcemic hormone PTH chala jaata hai. R false hai: thyrocalcitonin blood calcium kam karta hai.
  13. Quick answerMedium

Assertion (A): Steroid hormones nucleus ke andar receptors se bind kar sakte hain. Reason (R): Steroids lipid-soluble hote hain aur cell membrane ke paar chale jaate hain.

    Answer dekho

Answer (A) A aur R dono true hain, aur R, A ko sahi explain karta hai

Dono true hain, aur lipid solubility hi woh cheez hai jo steroids ko intracellular receptors tak pahunchne deti hai.
  14. Quick answerMedium

Assertion (A): Insulin blood glucose kam karta hai. Reason (R): Insulin ek peptide hormone hai.

    Answer dekho

Answer (B) A aur R dono true hain, lekin R, A ko explain nahi karta

Dono statements true hain, lekin glucagon bhi peptide hai aur glucose badhata hai. Insulin glucose isliye kam karta hai kyunki yeh cells ka glucose uptake aur glycogenesis badhata hai.
  15. Quick answerMedium

Assertion (A): Thymus budhape mein sabse zyada active hota hai. Reason (R): Thymosins T-lymphocytes ke differentiation ko badhate hain.

    Answer dekho

Answer (D) A false hai lekin R true hai

A false hai: thymus budhape mein degenerate ho jaata hai. R thymosins ke baare mein ek true statement hai.
  16. NumericalMedium

Thyroxine, CX15HX11IX4NOX4, ka molar mass lagbhag 777 g/mol hai. Iodine ka atomic mass 127 maan kar batao ki thyroxine ke mass ka kitna percentage iodine hai?

    %
    Solution dikhao

Har mole mein iodine ka mass: 4×127=508 g.

Fraction: 508÷777=0.654, isliye iodine mass ka lagbhag 65.4 % hai.

Hormone ke mass ka lagbhag do-tihaai hissa iodine hai, isi wajah se diet ka iodine thyroid hormone synthesis ko limit karta hai.

  17. NumericalMedium

Maan lo ki 80 g mass wale pancreas ka 1.5 % islets hain, aur islet tissue ka 70 % β-cells hain. β-cell tissue ka mass kitna hai?

    g
    Solution dikhao

    Islet tissue: 80 g×0.015=1.2 g.

    β-cell tissue: 1.2 g×0.70=0.84 g.

Ek gram se bhi kam tissue poori body ki glucose supply ko control karta hai.

  18. Short answerMedium

Lunch ke paanch ghante baad ek student ka blood glucose 75 mg/dL hai aur steady hai. Us hormone ka naam batao jo ise aur girne se rokta hai aur do processes batao jo yeh liver mein chalata hai.

    Solution dikhao

    AnswerGlucagon; glycogenolysis aur gluconeogenesis.

Islets ke alpha-cells ka glucagon. Liver mein yeh glycogenolysis (stored glycogen ko tod kar glucose banana) aur gluconeogenesis (non-carbohydrate sources se naya glucose banana) ko stimulate karta hai, aur cells ka glucose uptake kam karta hai, isliye meals ke beech blood glucose steady rehta hai.

  19. Long answerHard

Sir ki ek chot us stalk ko kaat deti hai jo hypothalamus ko pituitary se jodta hai.

    1. TSH ka secretion, aur uske saath thyroid hormones ka secretion, kyun girega?

      Solution dikhao

TSH anterior pituitary se aata hai, jo stalk ki portal vessels ke through pahunchne wale hypothalamic releasing hormones par depend karta hai. Stalk kat jaaye to releasing signal kho jaata hai, isliye TSH secretion girta hai; thyroid ko ab stimulation nahi milta, isliye woh kam T3 aur T4 banata hai.

    2. Us insaan ko bahut zyada patla urine kyun aane lag sakta hai?

      Solution dikhao

ADH hypothalamic neurons mein banta hai aur release ke liye unke axons ke through stalk se posterior pituitary tak le jaaya jaata hai. Axons kat jaane par bahut kam ADH blood tak pahunchta hai, distal tubules kam paani reabsorb karte hain, aur us insaan mein diabetes insipidus ke signs aa jaate hain.

  20. Quick answerEasy
